Michelle graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Work and Minor in Psychology. Michelle’s background consists of interning with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, where she gained professional experience with individuals who were placed on felony probation and Drug Court. Michelle also interned at an adolescent inpatient drug and alcohol treatment center where she gained knowledge on co-occurring disorders. While earning her Masters in Social Work from Minnesota State University, Mankato, Michelle worked at an inpatient adolescent treatment center for clients with problematic sexual behaviors and interned at an outpatient therapy clinic with both adolescents and adults, couples, and co-facilitated group therapy. Michelle believes in utilizing a strengths-based therapy approach, as well as implementing cognitive behavioral therapy practices and incorporating mindfulness into the therapy process. Michelle strives to build a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients while advocating for clients to envision the change they desire in their lives through processing and goal setting. Michelle works as an Outpatient Therapist with adults, adolescents, couples and families, and as a School Linked Therapist in Elementary Schools. In July 2021, Michelle accepted a position as School Linked Mental Health Coordinator at Counseling Services of Southern Minnesota. She strives to establish a positive partnership with the schools, CSSM and caregivers for the students/clients who are receiving services in the School Linked Mental Health.
