Shelly is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) who graduated with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Shelly has a range of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families and communities in the rural setting, especially those living in poverty, individuals of color, group work/facilitation, and school social work with diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA populations. Currently she provides a wide range of mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults including diagnostic assessments, individual, group, and family therapies. She is a school-linked mental health therapist serving students of all ages and also provides therapy to all ages at the clinic with particular interest in adolescents and women. She works at establishing a strong therapeutic alliance, emphasizes a holistic based approach rooted in a strength’s-based as well as a developmentally-appropriate and relationship-focused framework. Her work emphasis is in cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, mindfulness and relaxation, and DBT skills. Other areas of interest include attachment and relationships, trauma, mood disorders and anxiety. Shelly is currently pursuing certification in Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP). She is receiving professional supervision as she works toward gaining licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
