Counseling Services of Southern Minnesota is begining its 12th year of providing the highest quality mental health services. We are fortunate to have exceptionally effective and caring personnel who provide a wide range of services. We look forward to continuing to be a catalyst for positive change in the clients we serve.

In-home skills development services are being provided in Nicollet, Le Sueur, and Blue Earth counties by highly trained and experienced mental health practitioners. They continue to meet the many challenges of children and adolescents with mental health issues.

Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) are provided in Nicollet, Le Sueur, and Blue Earth counties. These services are designed to be community based support for adults with mental illness who are on Medical Assistance.

Outpatient mental health services are provided by 8 licensed therapists. Services include individual, family, and couples therapy; ADHD assessments; custody and parental capacity evaluations; learning disabled assessments; neuropsychological screenings; and general psychological assessments. We are fortunate to be able to offer a variety of therapists to meet client's individual needs.

A new service that Counseling Services of Southern Minnesota is providing is a Health and Behavior Assessment. A Health and Behavior Assessment is completed prior to bariatric surgery to rule out a mental health diagnosis and assess strengths, liabilities, current stressors, and current level of functioning. Needs are also assessed, and skills training is provided to foster treatment compliance, improve readiness for surgery, correct inaccurate perception of the surgery, explore areas that could potentially cause noncompliance, and help the surgical candidate prepare for this change in his/her life. Ultimately, the Health and Behavior Assessment is completed to maximize the potential for a successful surgical outcome.

Counseling Services of Southern Minnesota has many documents now available in Spanish. We also have mental health information available in several languages including Spanish and Hmong.
